WELCOME TO OUR SAFETY BLOG! This is intended to re-focus on various topics which the experienced among you will have covered long ago, but which may have since been consigned to the "memory archive", and which those under training may not have encountered yet. Take a few moments to scroll back through the older posts in order to gain a flavour of what we are trying to do for you. FLY SAFE!

Tecnam pitot head heat checks
An injury/minor burn to the hand was experienced by an Aerobility flyer cover whilst checking the operation of the Tecnam’s pitot heater by touch during a pre-flight check.
It seems that the pitot heats up significantly faster on the Tecnam than on the Pipers, and this can create an unexpected hazard for those unfamiliar with it.
In order to prevent it from becoming a recurring problem can you please ask all Instructors involved with the operation of the Tecnam to keep it in mind, and to highlight it to their Students as part of their pre-flight briefing.
Thanks
